Tips for Staying Warm in the Foxhunting Field

  • Apply a thin layer of Vaseline or non-petroleum jelly to your body before getting dressed. This will trap the heat to keep you extra warm. (Avoid lotion, as it doesn’t trap heat as well.)
  • Make sure your first layer of clothing (long johns, tights, etc.) fit snugly.
  • Wear a high turtle neck under your stock tie for added warmth.
  • Wear non-latex or nitrile gloves under your riding gloves to trap heat and keep your hands warm and cozy.
  • Use hand and toe warmers as needed.
  • Don’t forget ear warmers! Many types fit comfortably under a riding helmet.
